WHERE MANHOOD STARTS

Boys don’t often have the opportunity to discuss issues and strategies regarding launching into manhood.  The Rite Way is a day which will raise their consciousness of this transition out of boyhood.  Activities are geared around boys exploring the journey that lays ahead and helping them realise that there are many choices which will determine the type of man that they will become.

We offer 2 different Rite Way Days for Boys – one is an active day based in your school’s gymnasium (for up to 70 boys)…a day of dynamic participation where the boys experience games and activities that all directly relate to the social emotional themes of the day.
The second is a day program which can cater for up to 200 boys and is based in a more traditional seated seminar setting (with some opportunity for active participation throughout the day).

THE RITE WAY ACTIVE DAY

Likening this transition to any journey The Rite Way team will explain the 7 steps which are integral to a successful journey of any type.  And within these steps a variety of issues will be addressed including:

HONESTY/WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH

Exploring honesty, taking responsibility, maturity and self-talk.  Challenging the boys with “Why do you choose to lie?” “What does it take to ‘own up’?” and  “How mature are you?”

VULNERABILITY

Exploring weaknesses, trust, male-masks, being open ourselves and empathic to others.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Exploring the male ‘pay-out’ culture, compliments, strengths and building each other up.

THE RITE WAY SEMINAR DAY

Using elements of the framework and curriculum of the extremely successful year-long program the seminar day takes students on a 3 part journey from within themselves to a more ‘outward looking’ approach, exploring the shift from child psychology (‘Life is about me’) to adult psychology (‘Life is about others’).

RITES OF PASSAGE/WHO AM I, REALLY?

Looking at the purpose of a rite of passage from boy to man (including how this looks in various traditional cultures) along with an exploration of what the expectations of being a male are in our culture.

HOW DO I GET ALONG WITH OTHERS

Exploring the complexities of relationships with friends and the opposite sex as well as spending some time helping the boys to comprehend the significant influence of pornography on today’s generation.

WHERE AM I GOING?

Guiding the boys to gain a vision of the man they would like to be.
